Minuteful Kidney is a NHS funded service that enables patients to conduct their annual NICE recommended albumin-to-creatinine (ACR) urine test at home, using a smartphone app and test kit sent directly to them on behalf of their GP practice.

NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board is working with Minuteful Kidney until 31 March 2025 to reach people living with diabetes who have not had their annual urinary ACR test in the past 24 months.

A step-by-step process for set  up: The total set up time per practice is less then an hour:

  1. Visit the Minuteful Kidney service webpage, and register your practice for the introduction call, or alternatively, book a service initiation meeting now

  2. Read the Data Protection Agreement (DPIA) – You will also need to update your privacy policy. The DPIA is an information document only that sets out the agreement between the provider, ICB and practices.

  3. Book a site set-up call with the Minuteful Kidney team.

  4. Run the search for eligible patients using the provided search for EMIS +S1

  5. Send text messages to the eligible patients notifying them about the service.

  6. Send the final list to the Minuteful Kidney team via our NHS Email mailbox
