OVERVIEW
A course designed to give a broader understanding of anatomy and physiology of the skin and giving ability in recognising lesions, lumps and bumps.

Skin cancers - how to recognise them and understanding prevalence
Skin infections and infestations
Caring for older skin - preventing wounds and ulcers, medicated bandages
Paediatric skin
How emollients work
Soaps, moisturisers, emollients and shampoos, their functions and how to use them
AIMS AND OUTCOMES
Learn dermatology language and terminology, be able to describe what you see in a dermatological sense.
Know how holistic assessments and having the ability to obtain the appropriate investigations to determine causes of skin conditions.
Introduction into general dermatology, looking at common conditions, atopy, infection and infestations.
Understanding the aging process of skin and facilitate prevention of wounds.
Skin cancer detection and understanding importance of differences in types of skin cancers and the importance of prevalence of skin cancers in practice.
Paediatric dermatology and consideration of additional needs of children and young people.
Gain a broad understanding of the function of steroids and topical steroids, types of medication used for certain dermatological conditions and importance of soaps, shampoos, moisturisers, emollients and medicated bandages.

The Training Hub will review and respond to your funding request. If funding is approved, it will be your responsibility to book your place on the course you wish to attend, we will provide the instructions to do this. Please note, you will need to send us your booking confirmation within 1 week of your funding being approved as places are limited. Failure to do this will result in your funding being withdrawn and you will need to reapply.
Course cost
The approximate course per delegate is: £170
If your funding request is approved the Training Hub will cover the full cost of this course.
