OVERVIEW
Aimed at Nurses and AHPs working in General Practice to develop competency in managing patients with diabetes based around the TREND nursing competency framework
Who should attend:
Nurses, Associate physicians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and allied healthcare professionals involved in diabetes management in General Practice and community teams.
CONTENT
Diabetes: a metabolic disorder, causes and symptoms
Screening, prevention, prediabetes
Type 1 diabetes, diagnosis and management including 15 healthcare essentials (Diabetes UK)
Nutrition including remission in Type 2 Diabetes
Blood glucose monitoring including HbA1c and flash glucose monitoring
Ketone monitoring, indications and testing
Oral theraipes
Injectables and reviewing efficacy
Hyperglycaemia; short term symptoms and management
Hypoglycaemia; symptoms, treatment and long term effects
Illness and diabetes
Cardiovascular disease, assessment, risk and management
Neuropathy; early detection and prevention
Nephropathy; early detection and management
Retinopathy
Promoting self care, well being and mental health management
AIMS AND OUTCOMES
To provide information and guidance of how to manage patients with diabetes holistically in primary care.
To improve confidence and enable nurses to become competent in management.

The Training Hub will review and respond to your funding request. If funding is approved, it will be your responsibility to book your place on the course you wish to attend, we will provide the instructions to do this. Applications will be reviewed in order of the course date (soonest courses first) and date received. If you have any questions, please contact us at hwetraininghub@nhs.net.
Please note, you will need to send us your booking confirmation within 1 week of your funding being approved as places are limited. Failure to do this will result in your funding being withdrawn and you will need to reapply.
Course cost
The approximate course per delegate is: cost £170.00
If your funding request is approved the Training Hub will cover the full cost of this course.
