New GP Educator Pathway

We are excited to announce the dates for our third HWE GP Educator course in September/ November 2024, following our successful first 2 courses through out 2024.

Are you already a Tier 2B trainer and want to move up to Tier 3?

About

To become a GP Educator you will need to complete an Aspiring Educator Training Workbook (self study) and also attend one virtual session on Educational Theory and a 2-day face-to-face training event to consolidate and extend your learning.

Following the face to face events when you have shown engagement in the process and completed the workbook you will be approved as a GP Educator.

You will need to attend all the dates listed below:

Educational Theory – ½ day virtual morning

12th February 2026 09:00am - 12:15pm

F2F Workshop Day 1 Hitchin Priory

25th March 2026 - 09:00am - 16:00pm

F2F Workshop Day 2 Hitchin Priory

26th March 2026 - 09:00am - 16:00pm

We aim to run three HWE GP Educator courses per year. There may also be other dates available in other East of England Training Hubs. We will post dates of further HWE GP Educator courses for 2025/26 in future newsletters.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the course, any requirements, or any aspect of becoming a new or upgraded GP Educator/GP Trainer then please contact the HWE Training Hub or Dr Richard Stanley, our Training Hub GP Training and Expansion Lead: richard.stanley3@nhs.net.

If you would like to register your interest or If you have spoken with Richard and you feel you are ready to apply and can attend all of the dates please email hweicbenh.thqualityteam@nhs.net, we will then send you the link to apply and relevant learning required before the learning events.

If your practice is not a learning organisation then please let the Quality team and Richard Stanley know.

Once applied we will check over your details and send all the relevant details on to you, including agendas, links to the virtual event and the workbook which will need to be completed in full by face to face day 1. (up to pages 45 by the virtual day)
