About the SocialPrescriberPlus Programme
The SocialPrescriberPlus Program is PCI Accredited and fully aligned with the 2023 Workforce Development Framework for Social Prescribing Link Workers. The Program comprises 3 half day modules, two of which take place in the same week, with the third Active Learning Set and Reflective Practice session taking place several weeks later, once delegates have had an opportunity to put their newly learnt skills into practice.
The intensive online programme is delivered via the Zoom online video conferencing platform. It is designed to provide delegates with all the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to allow them to commence work as a Social Prescriber in a PCN, GP surgery or a community based Social Prescribing scheme.
What Will I Learn?
The SocialPrescriberPlus™ Programme comprises 3 half day modules. For this workshop, Module 1 and 2 take place on the same day. The third module is scheduled for a few weeks after the delegates take up their new role, but it can be taken anytime in the following 12 months depending on circumstances.
The intensive online workshop is delivered via the Zoom online video conferencing platform. It is designed to provide delegates with all the techniques and approaches needed to allow them to commence work as a Social Prescriber in a GP surgery, a PCN or a community based Social Prescribing scheme.
Recently enhanced to cover telephone techniques and consultations in the era of coronavirus, the workshop is unashamedly practical in nature. It provides lots of opportunities to practice Active Listening and Motivational Interviewing in a safe and supportive environment, and discusses the day to day practicalities of joining and working within a PCN or Practice and building relationships with external community groups and the voluntary sector.
The workshop covers the essential Social Prescriber skills of Active Listening, Motivational Interviewing, Health Coaching and Relationship Building. With a new focus on telephone consultations with patients, it also introduces delegates to a range of referral, coaching, evaluation and personalised-care planning tools and templates - essential to ensuring the Social Prescriber can successfully master the day to day practicalities of working within a GP Practice or voluntary based Social Prescribing scheme.
Module 3 takes place a few weeks after the delegates have started their new role, and is an Active Learning, Reflective Practice and Networking session. In a facilitated online learning environment, delegates are invited to present anonymised but real life situations and case studies they have encountered since being trained and which have presented a challenge in their new role. The assembled delegates discuss the challenge and, through a structured and facilitated process, provide feedback and suggestions to help the delegate with the challenge. It is an immensely powerful process and is designed to help delegates with their own challenges, as well as to provide a professional networking forum that will provide regular opportunities for the delegates to meet and discuss current topics and issues.
Module 1 – Monday 10th November 2025 9.30am – 12.30pm
Module 2 – Monday 10th November 2025 1.30pm – 4.30pm
