Please follow the training pathway below to find out which training is appropriate for you. Training must be completed in order.
This training pathway is for all Registered Healthcare Professionals, GPNs and Nurse Associates in East and North Herts.
STEP 1 – Basic Wound Care
Complete self-directed eLearning (PowerPoint module)
Must be completed before attending Step 2 in person training
STEP 2 – Leg Ulcer Training
If not doing Leg Ulcer management in practice, go to step 3

Before attending the 2-day training, you will need to complete eLearning; Wounds the Basics. This is a short eLearning programme covering anatomy & physiology related to wounds, this needs to be completed first to provide the necessary knowledge and understanding for face2face training.

STEP 4 – Competency sign-off
Arrange signing off competences with a named competency assessor. This will likely take several sessions of observation.
Named Competency Assessor - Each PCN/GP surgery must have at least one Registered Healthcare Professional who can sign off competencies for new and existing staff. To become a named competency assessor, complete training steps 1 to 3 and have Step 4; own competencies signed off by Tissue Viability Specialist training team.
