New to Practice Programme

We are pleased to announce that the Hertfordshire and West Essex Training Hub is now accepting applications for the New to Practice Programme.

If you are a salaried GP or partner who qualified within the last 12 months and are seeking opportunities for further education and training, we encourage you to apply.

The New to Practice Programme offers a range of benefits, including access to online webinars, bitesize business fundamentals, mentoring opportunities, and peer support and networking.

Please note that, unlike previous years, sessional reimbursement is no longer available as part of this programme. This is due to the NHS England national New to Practice Programme closing to new applications on 31st March 2024.

To express your interest please fill in this MS Form.

Details of future first five opportunities will be shared when available.

More information on the national initiative can be found by clicking here.

Our local new to practice programme has been developed using the NHSE/I national initiative framework to provide a programme of support to all newly qualified GPs and GPNs who have qualified within the last twelve months and are working in a substantive role in primary care in the Hertfordshire and West Essex ICS.

Those that decide to take up the offer receive funded mentorship and funded CPD opportunities of one session per week (pro rata) for up to two years. This is designed to develop experience and support transition into the workforce as well as to discuss practice management skills, quality improvement, remote working and leadership.  New to practice fellows will also benefit from access to networking opportunities, facilitated by our First5 Leads and GP nurse tutors.
