We are pleased to announce the National Caldicott Guardian in Primary Care Conference. The conference will be chaired and has been produced in association with Christopher Fincken, past Chair and member of, The UK Caldicott Guardian Council, and will include national developments and local case studies in information sharing and the role of the Caldicott Guardian in Primary Care.
The conference aims to bring current and aspiring Caldicott Guardians together to understand current issues and the national context, and to debate and discuss key issues and areas they are facing in practice.
This conference will enable you to:
Network with fellow Caldicott Guardians and those working to improving information sharing in primary care
Learn from established practice in the delivery of Caldicott Principles in Primary Care
Understand and reflect on what makes an Excellent Caldicott Guardian in General Practice
Update your knowledge on national developments
Understand how to improve awareness of your role and engage the practice team
Develop your skills in Caldicott Decision Making and using the principles to improve consistency in practice
Identify key strategies for dealing with difficult issues, leading when things go wrong, and managing ethical decision making
Reflect on the Caldicott Role in Safeguarding
Understand the legal issues around GDPR, caldicott decision making including the duty of candour
Explore information sharing across organisations including the use of Primary Care Network Agreements
Update your knowledge on key IG issues including responding to subject access requests, and redaction of information
Preventing and managing inappropriate access to medical records
Gain advice from established Caldicott Guardians in Primary Care
Self assess and reflect on your own practice
Supports CPD professional development and acts as revalidation evidence. This course provides 5hrs training for CPD subject to peer group approval for revalidation purposes

How to apply for funding and apply for this course
Please complete the MS Form available at the following link: HWE Training Hub Funding Request Form (office.com)
The Training Hub will review and approve the course funding - however, it is your responsibility to book your place on the course you wish to attend. We will review and respond to applications in order of the course date (soonest courses first) and date received. If you have any questions, please contact us at hwetraininghub@nhs.net.
Once the Training Hub has approved your funding request, we will contact you with instructions on how to book your place on the course. When you have booked, please send us your booking confirmation to complete the process. Your booking confirmation must be received by the Training Hub within 1 week of your funding approval. If your booking confirmation is not received within a week of your request for funding being approved, your approval will no longer be valid and you will need to complete a new funding request form, via the MS Forms link. We will notify you if we have withdrawn your funding request.
